From Our Pastor...

The Treasure Hunt small groups are wrapping up with the last group meeting tonight.  I am grateful for the many of you who participated in these important groups.  I know from reports I have received that many of you have been blessed through your participation.

Even though the small-groups are almost done, our program is not yet complete.  It is time to bring the work of the small groups together and make it the work of the entire church.  On Saturday, September 18, 10A-4P, we will have a Treasure Hunt All-Church Gathering.  At this gathering we will look at the discussions which took place in the small groups and then dig a bit deeper to find the true and pure treasure hidden in our congregation.

The day will be fun, interactive, and filled with grace.  I have no doubt there will be laughter and tears as we explore what is at the heart of our church.  Oh yeah, we'll even feed you!

Whether or not you participated in a small group, please plan to attend this important all-church gathering.  Your presence will bless your church and leave you open to receive your own personal blessings.  During our time together we will grow closer together as a church, and closer to the heart of God.  I hope to see you there.

Grace and peace,

Ron

Scripture

Luke 14:25-33

Now large crowds were traveling with Jesus; and he turned and said to them, "Whoever comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and even life itself, cannot be my disciple.  Whoever does not carry the cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.  For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not first sit down and estimate the cost, to see whether you have enough to complete it?  Otherwise, when you have laid a foundation and are not able to finish, all who see it will begin to ridicule you, saying, 'This person began to build and was not able to finish.'  Or what king, going out to wage war with another king, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to oppose the one who comes against him with twenty thousand?  If he cannot, then while the other is still far away, he sends a delegation and asks for the terms of peace.  So therefore, none of you can become my disciple if you do not give up all your possessions."
