This is MY Story
- These are MY Songs!
Songs inspire us, comfort us, stir us, and
strengthen us. Consider your top 5 favorite songs. These
can be hymns, praise songs pop songs, show tunes - any songs
that stir your spirit, celebrate God's love in your life, and
give meaning to who you are as God's beloved. In addition
to the songs you select, write something about why these songs
are your favorites. Please submit your favorites to
pastor2mccws@yahoo.com.
During July and August we'll have worship
celebrations on "This is Our Story, This is Our Song", a
compilation of all of our favorites. These selections will
form the beginning of a new MCC-Winston Salem hymnal!

PS. I invite us to
consider carpooling on Sundays,
especially as gas prices continue to
rise. Carpooling reduces traffic and
increases community!

Spiritual Education Survey
The Spiritual Growth Task Force has
created a survey to receive input from members and friends of MCC
Winston Salem regarding educational opportunities offered through the
church. The survey is designed to address how we learn, what we would
like to learn to grow as Christians and in our spiritual lives, and when
best to offer these learning experiences.
To participate in
the on-line survey, click on the following link:

Keep Track of Your
Volunteer Hours and Mileage
Did you know that your
volunteer hours and mileage with the church are tax-deductible?
Beginning this Sunday, you may record your weekly hours and mileage (for
meetings, small groups, any volunteer related activity at the church) in
the address section of the attendance register. For example, following
your name, simply write “4 hours/28 miles” and Vickie Collins will begin
tracking these statistics to then be added into your annual giving
statement.

CALLING ALL MCC-WS KNITTERS
AND CROCHETERS
(or would-be
knitters and crocheters)!
If you knit
and/or crochet for a hobby, would you be interested in turning
that hobby into a ministry, also? Two wonderful ministries that
already exist are Knit for Kids (www.knitforkids.com)
and Prayer Shawl ministry (www.shawlministry.com).
Knit for Kids, a
10-year-old outreach ministry of Guideposts (who publishes an
inspirational magazine), has provided 400,000 sweaters for
children of all ages in the poverty regions of the U.S., Central
America, Africa and Asia . Their website details their
distribution areas. Finished sweaters are sent to Knit for Kids
for distribution.
From the Prayer
Shawl ministry website comes this description: Shawls…..made
for centuries, are universal and embracing, symbolic of an
inclusive, unconditionally loving God. They wrap, enfold,
comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify.
Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and
affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles….".
We would find a
local need for these shawls (Hospice, nursing homes, Aids care,
etc.).
Both ministries
provide the pattern. All we need to do is provide the yarn (or
ask for donations of yarn!), and give some knitting/crocheting
time to the project (individually, and/or get together for
knitting and chatting). Jean Middleswarth (who currently Knits
for Kids) is happy to coordinate this ministry, collect the
fruits of our labors, and send them on in the name of MCC
Winston-Salem to whichever ministry (or both ministries!) we
would choose to support.
If you're a
knitter or crocheter interested in participating……or if you'd
like to learn to knit or crochet so you can!......please contact
Jean Middleswarth at
jemstone@triad.rr.com
or 926-1589.
